Family Background
Francesco Grosso's parents are still unknown.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Maria Grace is the daughter of ANTONIO ANDRINA
and LUCIA SCIACERO.
Births
FRANCESCO PIETRO GROSSIO was born
in Italy about 1854.
San Martino is a small remote village located in an Alpine Valley in the region of Piedmont, the province of Torino, in the extreme northwestern part of Italy bordering France.
Immigration
According to the 1900 Federal Census, the Grosso or Grossio family immigrated to the U.S. in 1890. Their son, John, would have just been a toddler at the time. It is unknown if there were any other children with them or not.The port they landed at in New York is still uncertain.
The family went directly to Silver Plume, Clear Creek County, Colorado where Francesco engaged in ore mining.
Residence
The only thing known about Francesco is that he returned back to his homeland in Italy in the latter part of 1899 or early part of 1900.
Grace remained in Silver Plume for awhile. She then moved with her new husband, Angelo Luino, and children to Denver, Colorado about 1903 where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
Marriages
Francesco Grossio married Grace Andrina on 14 Feb 1885.
They were married in San Martino, Torino, Italy.
1. Andrina's first husband was Francesco Grossio.
2. After Francesco died, Andrina married the second time to Angelo Luino. Several places have been searched for the marriage record but none has been located.
It seems only logical that they would have married in Clear Creek or Gilpin Counties as it was a 3-day trip to travel to Denver in those days.
Children
It is believed that Francesco Grossio and Grace Andrina had four or five children that all died before 1900. The only children that have been found so far are:
1. MARIA LUCIA GROSSO Born 4 April 1885 in San Martino, Torino, Italy.
She died 27 April 1885 at the age of 23 days.
2. JOHN BATTISTE GROSSOBorn 7 July 1888 in Torino, Italy.

4. CAROLENA ("Lena") C. GROSSOBorn 25 Nov 1899 in Silver Plume,
Clear Creek County, Colorado. She married Jack Browne.
She died 28 April 1975 and is
buried at the Golden Cemetery in Golden, Colorado. The cemetery in Silver Plume, Colorado has been searched for any children or other relatives, but the cemetery is very run-down, has been badly vandalized, and many markers are down or gone.

and Angelo Luino are:

FRANCESCO GROSSIO Grossio died on 25 Feb 1900 in
San Martino, Torino, Italy at about 46 years of age.Family tradition tells that he died from
the "Black Lung Disease."
She is buried at Mt. Olivett Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
Other Information
It has been reported by members of the family that Francesco Grossio probably did his own ore prospecting in Silver Plume, Colorado as he never liked to work for anyone else, but this is still uncertain.Francesco left Colorado to go back home to Italy because he was dying from "Black Lung Disease."
It has been said that he died while at sea and slso said he had already arrived in Italy when he died. It is now believed that he made it home because his death record has been discovered in Italy.
Grace had a total of eleven children but some of the names are unknown. Four children died before 1900.
Grace was naturalized in the 1920's.
Her marriage records to Angelo Luino have not been found. The records in Clear Creek County and Gilpin County have been searched.
A will in Jefferson County, Colorado (Probate Court), dated 1921 from Angelo Luino, left everything to his spouse, Grace.
One of the sponser's at Grace's Baptism was Katarina (Catarina Andrina-? - her older sister?)
It has been told that Grace Andrina homesteaded property in Jefferson County, Colorado. It went from 1st Avenue to Alameda Avenue and from Pierce Street to Wadsworth Ave.
