JAMES PARKER was born approximately 1823-25
in Crawford County, Illinois.

He is the son of SAMUEL PARKER and
SARAH NEWMAN.

MARY [Surname Unknown] - According to the 1870 Federal Census, she was born in 1846 in Tennessee.

She was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian, which has made it very difficult to find records about her.

Her Indian name is unknown, but her English name was Mary [Rood-?].

She was approximately 21 years younger than James when they married.

Residence

From 1847 to 1860, James was found in Crawford County, Illinois where he owned his own farm.
I haven't gotten the land records yet, but he must have sold it soon after 1860 because in 1870 he was found in Liberty Township, Missouri.
He then moved sometime before 1880 to Union Township, Dunklin County, Missouri.
He may have moved from Missouri as there's a possibility that he died in Webster County, Louisiana.

James was married two times:

in Robinson, Crawford County, Illinois
2. Mary [Surname Unknown] - possibly Rood
married approximately 1865-1870

Died sometime before 1860 in Crawford County, Illinois.

Born 1850-51 in Stoddard County, Missouri.
Married Matilda [Surname Unknown] in 1871
in Stoddard County, Missouri.

5.  HESTER ANN PARKER
Born 1852-53 in Stoddard County, Missouri.

It has been reported that James served during the Civil War, but no military records have yet been found.

Deaths

Family tradition relates that Mary died during the childbirth of her second child in 1874.

It is believed that James died in Louisiana approximately 1893-95 at the age of 70 years.

Other Information

James Parker was a farmer.
Family tradition relates that he was also a scroundrel and a drunkard.
