While the rest of his family immigrated to the U.S.,
he remained in Germany.He married Katharina Mittendorf of Lage / Laage.

Bernard's son, Henry Joseph Tasset, born in 1866, immigrated to the U.S. He first went to Windthorst, Kansas and lived with his "Uncle Henry," then settled in Edwards County, Kansas.
Family tradition tells that the Tassets owned a string of Inns to Paris and as a consequence of smuggling guns during the French Revolution, had to flee to Germany.
It has been reported that the Latin spelling of "Tasset" appears in records at the Cathedral in Antwerp Belgium as TASSE'
