The Swans

Swans

Manicured lawns and placid ponds,
Settings of grandeur,
White-feathered beauties from beyond,
With their own allure.

Amidst a scent of lilies,
Queen-like and dignified,
Come the comely ladies,
Not a ripple where they glide.

Ignoring with disdain,
Those who stare at them,
Proud creatures of the lake,
Their song ... their requiem.

Almost unworldly beauty,
Strength and frailty combined,
Awesome swans, untouchable,
By the Master so designed.
